On June 21, Shanghai Lin-gang ·International Conference on Medical Technology Collaboration 2025 & Eastern MedTech Innovation Forum was successfully held in Lingang Special Area of Shanghai, China. Hosted by Lin-gang Medical Device Innovation Center(LGMDIC), the conference was themed "Let the World See China, Step from Lingang to the Global." It aimed to establish an international, high-level cooperation platform for medical technology, promote the transformation of innovative medical tech achievements, accelerate global connectivity of Chinese medical technology.
The conference gathered representatives from government agencies, universities, clinical institutions, and industry enterprises across over a dozen countries, including Russia, Belarus, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Azerbaijan. Domestic attendees included leaders from top tertiary hospitals, clinical experts, practicing physicians, and medical technology specialists from universities and research institutes. Dozens of high-quality domestic medical device manufacturers also exhibited on-site. Bringing together global medical technology wisdom, the event delved into cutting-edge topics such as strategies for medical device "going global," smart hospital construction, and the development of digital intelligent healthcare.
The International Consortium for MedTech Industry-Academia Collaboration (ICMIAC) was officially launched.
At the conference opening ceremony, The International Consortium for MedTech Industry-Academia Collaboration (ICMIAC) was officially established. The first batch of initiating units comprises 30 top universities, hospitals, and enterprises from 11 countries, including China, Russia, Belarus, Canada, Turkey, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. Clinical institutions, universities, and renowned enterprises such as Fudan University Affiliated Zhongshan Hospital, Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital, Shanghai Children's Medical Center Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai Chest Hospital, and University of Shanghai for Science and Technology will leverage the consortium's interactive mechanisms to fully integrate "medicine-engineering-education-research-industry" in a five-in-one collaboration. Through resource integration, technological research, and talent cultivation, they aim to accelerate the transformation and application of medical technology achievements. The consortium strives to cultivate interdisciplinary medical-engineering talent, promote international standard mutual recognition, and enable advanced medical technologies to cross borders for the health and well-being of all humanity.
Global Launch of Guidelines for the Selection of High-Quality Medical Devices from China (2025)
Going global has become a necessary step for the sustainable development of Chinese medical device enterprises. In promoting Chinese medical devices going global, Lin-gang Medical Device Innovation Center has continuously carried out international exchanges and cooperation, integrated global medical technology innovation resources, actively developed overseas branches, and opened up international cross-border market channels. Meanwhile, focusing on key initiatives, LGMDIC took the lead in compiling China's first English official publication for promoting medical device products going global - Guidelines for the Selection of High-Quality Medical Devices from China (2025). With markets as its framework, the book deeply analyzes the development of segmented industries and selects excellent Chinese enterprise product cases covering all segments of medical devices. The global launch of this book not only condenses and summarizes the achievements of Chinese medical devices but also opens a window for the world to understand China's intelligent manufacturing.
This guide is not just a product catalog but also a "trust endorsement" and cooperation invitation for "Made in China."
New Opportunities for Sino-Russian and Central Asian Medical Technology Cooperation
At the conference, multiple Sino-Russian and Central Asian cooperation projects were signed, opening new channels for Chinese enterprises to go global.
Lin-gang Medical Device Innovation Center (LGMDIC) finalized a partnership with National Coordinating Center for International Business Cooperation (NCC), aiming to strengthen collaboration in joint R&D of medical technologies, market access for medical equipment, and market promotion between Russia and China.
LGMDIC also completed four signings with Central Asian countries, offering new overseas development opportunities for Chinese enterprises in areas such as Central Asia smart hospital construction, China-Eurasian medical product registration, China-Kyrgyzstan joint research centers for diabetes and longevity, and China-Uzbekistan cooperation on medical imaging products.
Zhai Jinguo, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission; Zhu Xuming, Secretary of the Comprehensive Party Committee and Second-Class Inspector of Lingang Special Area; and Riklefs Viktor, President of Karaganda Medical University in Kazakhstan, delivered speeches at the conference. Yu Qingming, former Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Sinopharm Holdings, and Mikhail Karasev, General Manager of National Coordinating Center for International Business Cooperation (NCC), presented keynote reports.
This conference not only established new multilateral cooperation platforms but also deepened industry-education integration, promoting strategic practices for the systematic and organized international development of the medical technology industry. In the future, Lingang Special Area will take the Lingang Special Area Medical Device Innovation Center as the core fulcrum to build a globally linked hub for medical technology innovation.
